The soft grey-beige glaze has a subtly speckled and mottled character, giving the surface much more depth than a completely uniform piece of tableware, despite its minimalist form.

The flat shape makes the plate suitable as a presentation or serving dish for, for example, cheese, snacks, or pastries. The short handle forms both a practical and characteristic part of the design.

The combination of neutral glaze tones, simple geometry, and visible variation in the ceramic surface aligns with the minimalist stoneware design that grew strongly in popularity from the end of the twentieth century. This combined the appearance of artisanal ceramics with functional tableware.

An understated but distinctive piece of ceramics that, due to its size and shape, can be used both practically as part of a set table or as a still life.

Details:

Type: serving plate / presentation plate

Period: presumably c. 1990-2015

Material: ceramic

Color: grey-beige

Finish: speckled and lightly mottled glaze

Shape: round and flat with a low raised edge

Features an integrated handle

Condition: good used condition with light signs of wear and small irregularities in the surface consistent with the material
