Chip-carved Jardinière with 7 handles Frisian Antique Earthenware
A characterful jardinière in chip-carved earthenware, executed in a rich play of green, blue, and earth tones. The surface is entirely hand-carved in geometric fan shapes, allowing the light to play beautifully across the various facets.
This type of decor is characteristic of chip-carved earthenware from the early 20th century and is often associated with Frisian pottery and North Dutch workshops. The visible variation in the carving underscores the artisanal character of the piece.
The form is remarkable for the presence of no fewer than seven handles, which gives the piece an almost sculptural appearance. The interior shows a subtle craquelure and light sheen, consistent with its age and the firing process.
A decorative and powerful object that serves as a real eye-catcher both on its own and with a plant.
