A compact Dutch Bible with a beautifully preserved gold-edged finish and a unique historical document from Delfshaven.

This edition of the Bible contains the New Translation of the Netherlands Bible Society, which was first published in 1951. The book was published by Gebr. Zomer & Keuning in Wageningen and includes both the Old and New Testament.

The dark brown binding has a fine texture, rounded corners, and a modest title imprint. The gold-colored finish on the three edges gives the small book a neat appearance. Thanks to the thin bible paper, the entire Bible is housed in a handy format of only 12 centimeters high.

A special feature of this copy is the enclosed commemorative sheet from the Sunday School Association "Samuël" from Delfshaven, Rotterdam. The document mentions a Royal Decree from 1925 and bears a handwritten name and a date from 1944.

The commemorative sheet is older than the Bible itself and was presumably kept with the book at a later date. Together, they form a tangible memory of Dutch Protestant history.

The book is in a used but well-cared-for condition. The gold edge is largely well-preserved. The binding shows wear at the corners and spine, while the paper has light traces of age. A few loose paper parts are damaged at the edges.

An attractive little Bible for lovers of religious books, historical documents, and Rotterdam history.
